Stu
Stu lived with his wife, Sarah, (our charities Sponsorship Coordinator) in Uganda for 11 years at an NGO, about an hour up the road from Childcare Primary, in Ndejji. Stu has worked within children and educational services for nearly 30 years in both England and Uganda - he loves anything that promotes children and families!
Living in the village amongst his Ugandan brothers and sisters, has taught Stu so much, and it's this experience that he brings to Hosanna Support Group, in maintaining good relationships with the wonderful team at Childcare Primary, who serve many children both local to Ndejji and from Kisenyi, Kampala.
Stu’s family brings him much joy and grey hair – he and Sarah have three children that they adopted in Uganda, one birth child, and three more Ugandan lads who adopted the Dendy Tribe long ago. If you ever bump into Stu in Kampala, you could buy him a chapatti, he loves those probably too much!

Maggie
In 2002, while I was teaching in a modern, well equipped, local comprehensive school, I received a photo taken by my sister who was working in Uganda. The photo was of a group of very happy looking pupils seated on wooden benches in a fairly dilapidated looking classroom at Hosanna School in Kampala. There was no visible equipment, just smiling faces. What a contrast to my school situation!
That photo got under my skin, so I wrote to the Head Teacher Anne Nsubuga and suggested we form a link. In her reply, Anne suggested that we could help by funding the daily cup of porridge for all pupils as many of the children couldn’t afford to buy one. With help from family, friends and work colleagues we raised enough money to do this in 2003. The charity with help from Brimsham Green School, Chipping Sodbury Baptist Church and local people has supported the work of Anne and her team in various ways since then, and I cherish the personal relationship that has developed over the years.
I stood down as chair of the charity in 2018, but remain committed to its aims of enabling children from deprived areas of Uganda to have access to good quality education.

Pridie
Pridie taught English at secondary level for over a decade and during that time she was lucky enough to visit Anne and her amazing team to teach at Hosanna Primary.
Following this trip, the two teams at Brimsham Green School and Hosanna Primary worked together to establish a Global Partnership in which they could share resources and embed cross cultural teaching practice into each of their curriculums. They also established an expedition link with sixth form students travelling over to teach from 2010 onwards.
For Pridie, every opportunity to visit and teach alongside the team in Uganda has been an absolute privilege and an unforgettable experience.
